You might think the most unique fact about the Wedding Pavilion at the Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru Resort in the Maldives is that you can only access it by boat.
But really that’s just the beginning.
The real fun begins when you step onto the Wedding Pavilion. There, you will see schools of colorful tropical fish, blacktip reef sharks, sea turtles, and other marine life gliding through the water below through a stunning glass-bottomed aisle.
The views above the water aren’t bad either, as the pavilion’s design allows for spacious views of the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, and the surrounding islands, creating a sense of airy openness and romance.
The resort made the pavilion’s floor from solid, titanium-polished cement (45.058 sq. meters/485 sq. feet) and fastened the Wedding Pavilion to the seabed. They decorated it tastefully with whitewashed wood, flowing white drapes, and fresh tropical flowers, creating a serene and elegant atmosphere atop a calm turquoise sea. The pavilion is a short distance from the northwest tip of the Baa Atoll.
You’re not alone
Once you book your wedding, they assign a dedicated wedding planner to help you create your dream wedding, from the ceremony to the reception. - There are a variety of wedding packages to choose from, including options to create a custom package.
- A large selection of food and beverage options are also available, including Maldivian and international cuisine.
- A state-of-the-art sound system and lighting is also provided.
- Besides a wedding planner, whatever package you choose also comes with a dedicated staff on the day of the event to help your big day run smoothly.

Things you should know:
- Citizenship status: The wedding ceremony is strictly ceremonial for those who aren’t citizens of the Maldives. That type of wedding would suit a couple looking for a more intimate experience witnessed by a few close family and friends, and will later have, or already had, an official ceremony in their home country.
- Remoteness The Maldives are about 709 km (441 miles) from India. Specifically, the closest Indian state is Kerala. It’s pretty remote, which puts the Maldives out of reach for many couples planning a destination wedding. The expense and logistics automatically reduce the size of your wedding to a few close family and friends. (The pavilion itself can only accommodate up to 16 people.)
- Cost: The Four Seasons at Landaa Giraavaru is a luxury resort, and its Wedding Pavilion is one of its most popular wedding venues. As such, the cost of renting the pavilion can be quite high.
- Accessibility: The pavilion is accessible by boat only, which can be inconvenient for guests who are staying in villas in other parts of Baa Atoll. Additionally, the boat ride to the pavilion can be choppy on windy days.
- Privacy: The pavilion is located in a relatively secluded area of the island, but it is still possible for other guests to see and hear your ceremony. If you want a private wedding experience, the Wedding Pavilion may not be the best choice.
- Weather: The Maldives is a tropical country, so rain is always possible on your wedding day. if you choose to have your ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion, you must have a backup plan in case of bad weather.
- For weddings only: The Wedding Pavilion is only available for weddings and cannot be used for other events.
- Minimum guest requirement: The resort has a minimum guest requirement for weddings at the Wedding Pavilion.
- Reservations only: The resort requires couples to book their wedding ceremony at least six months in advance.
